Watercolored Unveils Dreamy, Cathartic Album ‘Tears of the Sea’

A cathartic, nuanced record, ‘Tears of the Sea’ is not the kind of album that we can truly describe; rather, it should be experienced, letting Watercolored’s cinematic, classically-infused soundscapes slowly take control of our inner consciousness. Initiating an introspective, personal aural journey in any keen listener, ‘Tears of the Sea’ will reveal itself useful for an intimate moment of reckoning, or a poignant, nostalgic look at the past. Whichever way you look at it, the album is incredibly meaningful and purposeful, and more importantly, it doesn’t follow any trend or proven formula.

Simply, it makes its own way. Born out of Itai Bauman’s fertile musical imagination, Watercolored marks his latest alter ego, narrated to us as “the visual reflection of ‘Tears of the Sea’”. The record is truly eclectic and borderless, with its sonic references going from classically-oriented compositions (such as the opener ‘A Dream’) to more haunting, progressive gems such as ‘Ship’. It’s here that we can also observe Bauman’s nuanced, soothing vocals.

Further on, ‘Ocean Stream’ feels rather hazy and dreamy, with a wealth of textures and field recordings accompanying Watercolored on a stark cinematic journey. Featuring eleven brilliant episodes, ‘Tears of the Sea’ is a wonderful album, a slice of hopeful and gentle goodness in an otherwise gloomy reality. Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, Itai explains: “Tears of the Sea is a concept album that portrays a journey through the oceans outside and within.”
