Vinny Lunar Teams Up with Fellow Aussie Talent Low Beams on Eclectic EP ‘Chauffeur’

Indian-Australian musician Vinny Lunar is making waves with his new EP, ‘Chauffeur’, a collaboration with Sydney-based electronic producer Low Beams. The EP features a unique blend of R&B and electronic beats, while tackling issues of racism and identity confusion.

A 5-track EP, the record showcases Lunar’s versatility and eclecticism, pouring his own heart and human experiences into carefully crafted modern gems. From bouncy and tribal rhythms to more soulful, nuanced and elegant tropes, the pair really hit the mark when it comes to authenticity.

Vinny and Low Beams first worked together on Polographia’s 2013 release “Right On,” and reconnected over coffee after Vinny spent two years in Berlin developing his sound and identity. The two bonded over their shared love for R&B and Indian vibes, deciding to work on a new project together.

Metaphorically describing a classic immigrant taxi driver, ‘Chauffeur’ is further enhanced by Low Beams, guiding Vinny through previously unexplored sonic territories. The EP navigates Vinny’s experiences growing up brown in a settler nation, and captures themes of colourism, depression, anxiety, and seduction in a bold and defiant way. The EP has received widespread acclaim, with multiple singles receiving airplay on FBi Radio and BBC Radio’s Asia Network.

On these premises, it isn’t difficult to imagine what’s next for the Australian pair. Global recognition? Possible. Great music? Certain.
