VANNGO Reveals His Lyrical Honesty in ‘Soaked to the Soul’

We have enjoyed listening to ‘Soaked to the Soul’ more than we were supposed to. You see, the song isn’t exactly uplifting or hopeful; it’s strikingly melancholic but without the pain and the euphoria. It’s a still piece that’s aware of the inevitability of the human condition, the realisation that no matter how much we try, we’ll always be hungry for more, hungry for meaning and purpose. Of course, this is merely our interpretation of it; we suspect VANNGO had his reasoning for writing it, perhaps drawing from personal experiences or memories.

Based in Los Angeles, VANNGO infuses ‘Soaked to the Soul’ with a rather minimalistic allure, layering his raw, vivid and evocative vocals on a simple acoustic guitar. This makes the record quite intimate and relatable, as if the American artists was a close friend confessing his deepest fears. Yet, the track is now out to the world, and we expect a large audience to connect with it. Steeped in folk-rock and alt-country influences, the record showcases what VANNGO is capable of.

Delving deeper into ‘Soaked to the Soul’, he explains: “I wasn’t trying to write something redemptive. This one came from that space between grief and clarity. The part no one wants to talk about. The part you live through alone.” Frankly, we have never come across a similar song. VANNGO is truly honest here, offering his pure, unfiltered take on a hidden yet common feeling.
