Vanda Returns with Dreamy Jewel ‘Sunday Shroom’

We last heard from Vanda in November 2024, when we celebrated ‘i don’t swim’ as “initiating a journey of reckoning and growth”. The circumstances were rather introspective and understated, as the American songstress adapted to challenging personal circumstances. Well, reflection doesn’t last forever: ‘Sunday Shroom’ catapults Vanda back into the limelight, offering a vibrant, uplifting and exuberant take on good times, affection and positive memories. We truly love it: hazy, dreamy, and expansive, the single embraces a lighter dream-pop outlook, one that fits Vanda’s exceptionally well.

Among honey-like, catchy melodies and an ethereal flair, the talented creative’s evocative vocals wrap listeners into a fever-like dream, a moment of heightened nostalgia and hopeful reckoning. Hinting at a wholesome moment of liberation and comfort, ‘Sunday Shroom’ also contains a touch of melancholia, as Vanda watches the good moments fade away. Not forever – it’s just the cycle of life.

As Vanda explains: “It’s about that quiet, trippy headspace where you’re not sure if you’re dreaming or just remembering something really deeply. The title kind of says it all—it’s a Sunday vibe, but with this emotional distortion, like you’re still processing the night before.” The chorus is particularly wonderful, dreamy yet anthemic, nuanced but also upfront and groovy. Vanda has certainly hit the mark here, and if she keeps it up, 2025 is going to be a stunning year for her career.
