We approach British trio Vacant Shores with a certain curiosity and reverence. You see, the Bristol-based group embraces quite a cathartic and hypnotic sonic allure, crafting dreamy and hazy trip-hop and electro material with heightened ethereal charge. Previously a duo, Vacant Shores now includes vocalist Suzy Alderton, joining founders Jon Elliott and AJ ‘Sid’ Sidford; this allows them to explore a wider sonic palette, while supercharging their elegance factor. Packed with six timeless and tender offerings, the EP feels melancholic at times, certainly introspective. The listening experience feels drenched in escapism, quite brooding, although frequent forays into synth-pop territories keep the record relatable and approachable.
