TX: “My Life’s the Blueprint; I Just Blend It Into the Beat”

It’s a crucial day for TX. Celebrating the release of his latest single ‘Way To You’, the Bristol-based rapper continues his relentless rise to the top, especially during a year that’s proving to be very productive and fertile. ‘Way To You’ doubles down on TX’s evocative, vibrant trap-wave character, this time around steeped in a copious amount of eclectic afro and tropical rhythms, giving the record a fresh, summery and carefree quality. Timing is everything, and the track perfectly caters to the upcoming season’s euphoric, sun-filled days.

Half Greek and half British, TX experiences his artistic journey from an authentic, wholesome perspective, paying homage to his roots throughout his music and aesthetic (for instance, his signature haircut boasts a Greek Key pattern). Whichever way you look at it, it’s obvious that the project has been growing massively, both at home and globally. ‘Way To You’ will likely conquer an even bigger audience, especially given its kaleidoscopic production and relatable storytelling. TX’s vocals are always on point, guiding the listening experience with pride and fierceness.

Intrigued by the talented rapper, we caught up with him to learn more about ‘Way To You’ and his overall journey… Interview below!

Hey TX, how is it going? I have explored your catalogue a fair bit, and I appreciate your melodic and relatable hip-hop allure. I would love to know if there are any particular references and/or inspirations guiding your records? Is there an artist you particularly admire?

What’s up! First of all, I appreciate your time to go through my music. My experiences in life heavily influence my records, whether that’s the good, the bad, or the confusing – it all blends into the beats and melodies creating what I put out in the world, and besides doing it for myself as a form of expression –  it is also a hook for anyone else wanting to relate and if they don’t, that’s all good!

In terms of role models in the industry, my inspirations stem from artists such as Lil Wayne’s insane work ethic and melodic approach to rap, as well as his creative and unique style and punchlines; Rick Ross when it comes to Bars and the motivation to work hard and bring more to the table, and even artists such as Brazilian Trap artist Matuê – despite not understanding fully the lyrics, I truly appreciate his approach to the melodic trap sound and unique marketing.

To this day, these 3 artists (alongside many more, of course) have tailored my approach to my own way into the music industry, and will continue to do so for the rest of my run.

Your Spotify bio mentions your half-Greek/half-British heritage; have your Greek roots influenced your artistic career in any meaningful way? Widening the topic, what motivated you to pursue music in the first place?

My Greek roots have a great meaning to my artistry. In fact, my stage name “TX” is an abbreviation of “τη αρχή” which translates to “The Beginning” – which I often get asked… why?

I chose this name as a reminder to myself of where it started, and to keep me rooted in the future. We all start from the beginning, and although we may end up at our desired destination, there is always another starting point along the way to explore something new. Despite growing up in the UK, I spent a lot of time back in Greece during the summer time of the year. Being amongst my twin culture is super different to the UK, and being exposed to the “giving” nature and hospitality of the Greeks has really pushed me to be grateful and to give back to my whole team, whenever possible.

This inspired me to create Odyssey Empire Music Group – a brand that will sustain the test of time throughout the industry and create a space where my team can thrive. And who knows, when the time is right and we are in a position to take on artists, we will make it happen…

Your latest single ‘Way To You’ is out today; what’s the story behind the song, and how proud are you of the final result?

‘Way To You’ is one of my most exciting works yet. As soon as I heard this beat and sang over the melodies for the hook, everything fell into place. I shared the rough demo amongst my team and close circle, and the reaction was priceless! From that moment on, I knew I had a summer banger or even potentially a “hit” in the palm of my hands. I guess we will find out soon if that belief was correct.

This will be the summer track of 2025, a perfect soundtrack for watching a sunset or sunrise on the beach, being fully present in the moment.

Let’s say the reader has never heard of TX; is there a particular track they should start with when approaching the project? Is there anything that particularly resonated with people in the past?

Before approaching this song, I would highly recommend listening to ‘Agape Mou’ to warm yourself up for the summer vibe that ‘Way To You’ also brings. These two songs co-exist perfectly, and are for sure going to be the ones that everyone is going to be dancing to at the shows; perhaps with their partners or a newly-found love they’ve just met after bonding over their mutual love for TX… (kidding but also not really!)

Do you feel more confident writing music alone, or within a team?

My approach to music is usually solitary; however, writing with a team of talented and trusted musicians is a huge vibe, especially when we hit that one song and the energy is electric. I am a fan of both, and truly believe it should be created in balance, a good mix of solo writing/recording – to lock in and discover your own mind – and team-powered sessions to hone in on any weaknesses, or find improvements to the song that maybe you would not have heard. It all goes hand in hand, and if practised correctly, it will create an insane infrastructure when creating.

You have been releasing material since 2019, and I guess you have gained some considerable experience navigating the music industry. If you had to give one advice to any fellow rapper/artist out there, what would that be?

100%. Let me share what I have learnt so far:

1. Inspiration will come when it does; never try to force this. Something I take from Rick Rubins’ book ‘The Creative Act: A Way Of Being’ – think of it as when you get into the studio it’s like going fishing, you cast your rope out in hops for something to bite (in this case inspiration or an idea), but you won’t be always succesful. Sometimes you will catch something BIG – either way, be ready for anything and when it comes, go full commitment on it.

2. ‘Your network is your net worth’; heard this before or something similar? If not, you may need to check your circle. You need to go out and network, start in your local scene and expand to the bigger cities. Just be around and introduce yourself properly, speak well and with positive body language. If this is unusual for you, do not stress as it will come eventually.

3. Create a team; You can only do so much alone,  and a team will be there for you when you need it. If you’re wondering where to start to build such a team, just look to those around you, it doesn’t need to be music-related people, it can even start with your best friend, your brother or sister… anyone whom you know you can trust and really start to build with. This loyalty will be the foundation for your future.

Artistically speaking, what challenges have the last two years presented you with?

Maintaining a financially independent artistic project has been very challenging, especially today, with rising expenses and ballooning costs. Combined with low streaming payouts and poor live fees, it creates a huge challenge. However, this is nothing to cry about, and if anything, it is great practice for becoming resourceful, which will help in the long run – everything has a silver lining.

Another aspect would be the social media side and building my platform to the point where I’m able to stand out. There are so many people releasing music and posting their artist promo on Instagram/TikTok. It’s all about finding a way to stand out and make people feel engaged.

What’s next for TX? Are there any live dates on the horizon?

We are most definitely in a good space for shows at the moment, they will be announced publicly very soon. This covers UK shows (including a London debut headline) as well as Scotland and international shows in Barcelona, Greece and Toronto, Canada. Stay tuned and follow me on Instagram!
