There’s a great deal of eclecticism and nostalgia in ‘Winter on the Vine’, yet we can’t quite put our finger on its overall character. It’s such a quirky, sui generis record… that’s one of the best compliments we can give it, at a time when everybody is looking for trends and proven formulas. Behind the single, we find Danish creative Tralalas. The moniker of seasoned Danish artist Mosten Alsinger, Tralalas finds noisy and hazy dark-pop as its flavouring of choice.
A veteran of the 1980s electro-punk scene and a member of electronic duo VERTICAL, Alsinger knows a thing or two about music. ‘Winter on the Vine’ is the strongest evidence of that: boasting roaring guitars, deep, smoky vocals and the haunting backing vocals of Heidi Lindahl (BlackieBlueBird), the piece unleashes a listening experience that’s pure escapism; a fever dream that we wish would never end.
‘Winter on the Vine’ also benefits from Thomas Li on production, Thomas Golzen on bass and guitar, and Francis Nørgaard Jensen on drums. Delving deeper into the lyrical inspiration, Tralalas explains: “It’s about waiting, irreversible change, and the quiet acceptance of nature’s inescapable order. It reflects on the futility of resisting natural cycles – both external and internal – and the human struggle to reconcile with what cannot be controlled.”
