The keen reader might remember Madrid-based rock and folk outfit Track Dogs, from a feature we published about them back in December. At the time, we did not know that their 20th anniversary would be coming up in 2026. Given how hard it is to keep a band going for so long, we are honestly quite impressed – Track Dogs showcase real commitment to their craft. So much so that they have decided to release a celebratory record ahead of time. ‘Tracks Laid, Tracks Covered’ is exactly that, a collection of some of their most prominent songs from the past ten years.
Yet, the celebrated group doesn’t stop there, adding some easter eggs in the form of live recordings and brand new tunes. Hailing from Spain, Track Dogs are not Spanish: composed by two Irishmen, an Englishman, and an American (Garrett Wall, Dave Mooney, Howard Brown, and Robbie K. Jones), the project has found well-deserved international success, especially with their clear, vivid songwriting built upon acoustic rock, folk and Americana-tinged influences.
Speaking about the new album, Track Dogs explain: “We celebrate 20 years together in 2026 and we thought we’d get the party started early, why not!? So, we’ve compiled our first 6 albums as Track Dogs into this collection, based mainly on the songs we regularly play live. Some of the tracks are appearing in album format for the first time, such as “Brandy” and “Easy”, which were previously released on EPs.”
