Championing a meaningful and evocative R&B character, the American talent moves with purpose and charisma, writing about his personal experience in relatable, heartwarming terms. ‘Wake Up The Night’ is the strongest evidence of that: TR3VON’s latest effort, the song is a slice of nostalgic R&B goodness blessed with hopeful, inspiring lyricism.
Written as a response to the loss of his mother, ‘Wake Up The Night’ celebrates resilience and growth, helping TR3VON celebrate resurgence and control, in the face of a gloomy, perhaps dark reality. Even when life gets tough, the light is on; one just has to find it. The single anticipates an upcoming EP, ‘Phoenix’, set to further enhanced the project’s poignant artistic universe.
Intrigued by TR3VON, we caught up with him to learn more about his artistry and future goals… Interview below!
Hey TR3VON, how is it going? Some of our readers might not be familiar with your project. How would you describe yourself, in a few words?
Hey! I would describe my upcoming album ‘PHOENIX’ as a rebirth — both musically and personally. It’s bold, emotional, and real. This project rises from pain, growth, and healing. It’s about turning ashes into anthems, reclaiming power, and reminding people that no matter what you go through, you can always rise again.
Your current work is the result of a long journey; What first drew you to making music?
What first drew me to making music was the way it made me feel seen and understood, even in my darkest moments. Growing up, music was my safe place. It gave me a voice before I knew how to use my own. I started writing and recording as a way to process what I was going through, and over time, it became clear that this wasn’t just a passion, it was a calling. Music saved me, and now I create in hopes it can do the same for someone else.

If you had the opportunity to pick any artists in the world for a collaboration, who would be your first choice? (and second choice, perhaps?)
First choice would be Kendrick Lamar — his lyricism, depth, and ability to paint vivid pictures through music is genius. Second choice might be H.E.R — her creativity and fearless approach to sound would make for something powerful.
You recently released an evocative and meaningful R&B/pop anthem, ‘Wake Up The Night’. Incredibly personal and introspective, the song showcases your ability to be vulnerable and speak your own truth. Can you guide us through the inspiration behind the piece?
Absolutely. Wake Up The Night was born out of a season of darkness — grief, heartbreak, and loss. The song became my way of reclaiming power, choosing joy, love, and freedom even when everything felt heavy. It’s about holding onto hope and allowing yourself to feel again. It’s me saying, “Even in the darkest hours, I still deserve to feel alive.” It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s a piece of my heart.
On a more general level, how does your creative process work? Do you enjoy writing with others or alone? Who’s behind the production of ‘Wake Up The Night’?
My creative process is rooted in emotion and real-life experience. Most of the time, I write alone — it gives me the space to sit with my thoughts and let the lyrics pour out authentically. I like to start with a mood or feeling, then build melodies and words around that. But I’m also open to collaboration when the energy is right — it’s powerful when someone helps bring out a version of your story you didn’t even see yet.
As for Wake Up The Night, the production was a team effort with a small circle who really understood my vision. The producer brought the perfect blend of warmth and intensity that matched the heart of the song — it’s that pulsing energy that keeps the song alive, even in its vulnerability.
I appreciate your vocals, so malleable, luscious and hypnotising, really connecting with listeners on a deeper level. It is also, perhaps, cathartic. How proud are you of this record overall?
Thank you — that means a lot. Wake Up The Night is a personal record, so I’m incredibly proud of it. It came from a place of deep reflection, healing, and transformation. To hear that my vocals resonate and feel cathartic to others is powerful, because that’s exactly what the process was for me — a release. I poured my heart into this track, and knowing it connects on a deeper level reminds me why I do this in the first place.
Artistically speaking, what challenges have the last two years presented you with?
Artistically, the last two years have challenged me in ways I never expected. I experienced deep personal loss with the passing of my mother, and that pain shifted everything — my perspective, my process, my voice. Grief doesn’t ask permission, and as an artist, I had to learn how to create while carrying that weight. At times, it felt impossible to write or perform. But eventually, I found strength in the vulnerability. It pushed me to be more honest in my music and to trust that even in brokenness, there’s beauty. It taught me that healing and creativity can coexist.

What are the next steps for your project? Anything exciting on the horizon?
Yes! The next steps for my project are all about elevation and connection. I’m continuing to roll out visuals and content for my latest single Wake Up The Night, which has been a powerful release for me emotionally and artistically. I’m also deep in the creative process for my upcoming EP PHOENIX, dropping May 30th — it’s about resilience and rising through pain. I’ve got a few collaborations in the works, some live performances on the horizon, and most importantly, I’m focused on making music that heals — for myself and for anyone listening.
