If one were to look for a British band on the verge of bigger things, then TOY CAR would be a perfect match. You see, the talented Liverpool-based outfit has struck sonic gold, and people are beginning to realise it. Boasting an explosive and fierce alt-rock ethos with a certain grunge-esque flair, the group writes material that feels vibrant and wholesome, hard-hitting and relatable. It’s not just about TOY CAR’s guitars; it’s about their lyricism.
‘Thylacine’ is the perfect evidence of that. Balancing between quieter, poised verses and all-out, striking choruses, the track weaves into the constant push and pulls between clear, anthemic vocals and chaotic instrumental energy, a formula that has been working very well for TOY CAR. It certainly makes for an engaged, motivated audience and rapturous live shows. On that note, the British band is on the verge of a nationwide tour in October, including Birkenhead, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, and Liverpool.
Produced by Ben Harper at The Motor Museum (home to The 1975, Oasis, Bring Me The Horizon), ‘Thylacine’ echoes the tumultuous reality of our times, describing the need to withdraw, so to speak, from the cultural and emotional discourse and take refuge in a shielded, solitary state of mind. We can relate to that! Look out for TOY CAR’s upcoming album, ‘Cream’, expected on November 7th.
