The Sunmills Gear Up for Upcoming Album with ‘Rock and Roll’

About to drop their long-awaited album ‘The Art of Burning Bridges’, Utah-based rock outfit The Sunmills appear to have finally found the gear they need to keep building on their pre-Covid foundations. Debuting back in 2018 – which feels like a century ago, by the way – the American group was supposed to be recording and releasing an EP in 2020. For obvious reasons, they weren’t able to do so, with things then snowballing until… now. It’s crazy to think how the pandemic has affected plans, we would really be living in a different world if that hadn’t happened.

Anyway, let’s get back on track: The Sunmills have finally found the time and effort they need to complete an album, now expected for May 9th. In the meantime, we have been sent a wonderful single, ‘Rock and Roll’, an uplifting and playful gem showcasing all the 90s flair they have to offer. A tight, talented trio, The Sunmills craft digestible and relatable nuggets of guitar euphoria, with clear-cut vocals commanding the listeners’ attention.

From a lyrical standpoint, the single and the subsequent album focus on the intricacies of modern relationships, especially when it comes to the negativity and a breakup’s post-mortem, rather fashionable in our overthinking society. As the band explains: “A chaotic love letter to failed relationships, ghosted girlfriends, and the kind of self-sabotage that somehow still looks cool when you’re on stage”.
