The Silver Doors Share Self-Titled Hard-Hitting Album

It took us a while to fully grasp the extent of The Silver Doors’ artistry. ‘Reedemer’, in particular, is a very fitting opener track, bathing in eclecticism and psych-rock with a certain math flair; It reminds us of the likes of Battles, at least partly. The addition of an electric violin makes the sonic formula quirky and unique, perhaps giving the American group the edge when it comes to standing out among the crowded music landscape.

Throughout eight hard-hitting, gritty episodes packed into a self-titled album, The Silver Doors explore their musical roots with charisma and confidence. From noisy, rebellious punk-infused anthems (such as the short yet memorable ‘Bulletteth’) to more nuanced and complex garage and alt-flavoured episodes (’Dirtnap’ really catered to our attention), often with a touch of nostalgia and emotional energy (‘Shattered’ is more akin to a folk piece than to anything else).

Boasting a heightened songwriting expertise, the Appalachian band manages to craft a record that’s not just a plethora of guitar riffs, but also a guided stream of lyrical imagery with a common thread. Speaking about the future, Silver Doors states: “An album release party at Eulogy in downtown Asheville, NC on April 18th, with more surrounding regional dates through the Spring”.
