The Shadow Self Unleashes Blistering Alt-Rock Cut ‘REBIRTH’

Striking, hard-hitting, fierce; all adjectives that would perfectly fit The Shadow Self’s latest effort, ‘REBIRTH’. Yet, the record carries an otherworldly sense of despair and dystopian catharsis that’s hard to explain, finding refuge in the listener’s most hidden thoughts and desires. Developing with a haunting, gloomy alt-rock and emo character, ‘REBIRTH’ feels monumental and anthemic, yet also dark and destructive, as if we weren’t really supposed to discover it.

Speaking of discovery, that’s one of the track’s central themes. As Nicholas Antenucci explains: “‘Rebirth’, at its core, is about a rediscovery of spirituality. It’s about the freedom one finds when they materialise and rationalise their reality into a way that speaks to their soul.” Hailing from Arizona, the talented musician and singer has crafted the piece with vivid flair and fiery distortions, a nugget of evocative dissonance capable of hypnotising even the most extreme listeners out there.

We can’t quite look away from The Shadow Self; ‘REBIRTH’ is that good. Ferocious and brooding, the piece unveils an intense, raw listening experience, one that catapults the project into the alt-rock Olympus; we are confident others will start noticing it too. As an easter egg, ‘REBIRTH’ also comes with a re-imagined version featuring exotic instruments.
