The One Tonic Celebrated Family in ‘Richest Man Alive’

It is interesting to observe how painful and traumatic situations can lead to life-changing revelations. When the mist has cleared, and we are confronted with a bleak reality, it is only then that we understand what truly matters in life. That’s exactly what happened to The One Tonic, the solo outfit of multi-instrumentalist Matt Soren. We’ll let him explain his case: “Years ago, we lost almost everything when my wife had cancer. Even though it was brutal, it made me appreciate how rich I actually was. I had my family. ‘Richest Man Alive’ it is about how awesome it is to have a great family, even when you’re totally broke.”

The powerful realization above was the sparking moment to write a song, ‘Richest Man Alive’, which is now taking the role of The One Tonic’s latest single. In it, we found punchy and gritty electro-pop, heavy on the beats and soothing on the vocals. Emerging from Salt Lake City, Soren showcases quite a peculiar style, infusing pop matter with breakbeat and electronica. Most notably, the chorus in ‘Richest Man Alive’ is its most relevant strength. An almost Beatlesian moment, the section makes the track glows with relatable melodies and glorious character.

Overall, a worthy discovery. Recommended! Discover The One Tonic on Spotify:
