The Nomadic Release Rich and Anthemic New Track ‘Treading Water’

Rob Gaylard is a singer/songwriter who recently relocated back home to Sydney, Australia. He then proceeded to put together an Aussie supergroup consisting of himself, Miles Thomas (Ronan Keating), Oliver Thorpe (The Whitlams), and Brendan Clark (Montaigne). Performing under the moniker of The Nomadic, the band recently put out their first single of 2024 in the form of ‘Treading Water’, a rich and atmospheric alt-rock tune that you simply melt into!

Reminiscent of tracks from acts like The War on Drugs and Band of Horses, ‘Treading Water’ builds itself up gently with an acoustic guitar and understated strings before springing into life. Full-bodied, anthemic, and mellifluous, it’s a song that I find myself constantly returning to. It’s just so perfectly pieced together and assembled – and for that, we have Dan Frizza (Tones and I) to thank!

“‘Treading Water’ is a song of narrative and storytelling and explores the theme of being stuck,” says the band. Pointing to the chorus of “Spend a lifetime, treading water, trying to gently float to shore…” The Nomadic taps into the true tension that is at the very heart of the tune.

As easily one of the best releases I’ve heard all year, I now can’t wait to dive further into The Nomadic’s discography! It’s decent in size, and I am certain I’ll discover some gems along the way!
