The Fiends Return with Immersive, Epic Cut ‘Sonder’

It’s been just over a year since The Fiends’ previous EP ‘Lazarus’ was released, yet the Welsh heroes do not appear to have lost their epic indie allure. Following up on a wonderful 2025 that saw them perform at SXSW Ausint and support major acts across Britain, the Swansea-based group has now returned with yet another standout, ‘Sonder’. It’s a track that feels immersive and electrifying, one that’s not easy to forget.

From a lyrical standpoint, ‘Sonder’ showcases the duality that lies behind The Fiends. If, on the surface, the band comes across as an epic indie rock outfit capable of intense choruses and all-out guitar riffs, a closer look at their material reveals a certain nuance and raw character in their songwriting. It’s the definite mark of a complete, mature project, one that we expect to further bloom into public adoration.

Delving deeper into the meaningful and observant lyrical ethos that proles the single, The Fiends explain: “‘Sonder is the realisation that every individual passerby has their own life just as vivid and complex as your own. The song explores the thoughts that wander around our heads when we have a minute to ourselves in a situation surrounded by strangers, whether that would be waiting on a bench outside a shopfront passing the time, or gazing out of a bus window watching the world go by.”
