The Bogards Return with Hard-Hitting Alt-Rock Cut ‘Taste’

Not all bands sound equal. Some don’t quite manage to dial in their sound and end up looking ‘thin’ and insubstantial. That’s certainly not the case for The Bogards. Hailing from London, the talented alt-rock trio has been championing a great deal of fuzziness and electrifying distortion, making for a sonic imprint that’s hard-hitting, boundary-pushing, yet relatively familiar and listener-friendly. That’s the kind of projects we are very fond of; The Bogards manage to fully explore their rock identity while offering a great deal of lyrical relatability and storytelling.

‘Taste’ is the strongest evidence of it all. Marking a crucial turning point for the British outfit, the piece sounds noticeably better than their previous EP, ‘Funkin’ Napalm Sex Machine’, while also diving deep into fiercer alt-rock territories. We are into it: The Bogards appear more mature and with a firm grip on their future. If ‘Taste’ is anything to go by, we are expecting big things from them.

Michael Smith at RYP Recordings is the producer and mixer behind the record; the alchemy between him and The Bogards is undeniable, and it’s great to see him guiding a young band back into the spotlight. Exploring the inspiration behind the release, The Bogards explain: “We are extremely proud of this track. It has been a fan-favourite at our live shows, so we wanted to capture the energy and dynamics in a studio setting. It felt like a logical evolution for us as a band.”
