Not to sound cliché, but we were listening to Avril Lavigne just last week; that’s why, upon discovering Tally Spear, we immediately recognized the same early ‘2000 pop-punk energy, fierce, charismatic yet relatable and friendly. Ultimately, a slice of eclectic and hard-hitting pop with a healthy dose of guitar fuzziness. Spear’s stunning vocals really do a number on us: ‘Here Comes The Rain’, the project’s latest single, sounds majestic and anthemic, yet poignant and emotional.
Tally’s clean and imposing tone crowns a fantastic record, one that’s going directly into our faves playlists. Hailing from London, the young songstress has managed to rally sizeable industry support in the last few months, gaining praise from the likes of Kerrang! Magazine and BBC Introducing.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, she explains: “Here Comes The Rain is me thinking out loud, questioning my choices, asking what am I meant to do when something I used to love (a career choice,- passion) is now causing so much pain? The song is about the search for meaning and contentment in the day-to-day grind, and struggling to find the silver linings in the clouds.”
