As he explains, the song was sparked by “the loss of my son, which has accompanied me for exactly a year now, and pushed me into a deep hole. Writing ‘Galaxy’ was one of the first steps to process the death (though it’s not the first song I released after). It took time to make the loss more public.”
We cannot imagine what the German creative must have felt at the time: losing a child is one of the most harrowing experiences one can endure. Yet, music and art can provide a gentle relief, allowing us all to slowly come to terms with humanity’s darkest corners. ‘Galaxy’ is the result of such an ethos.
