Svarp The Harp Plays The Blues in ‘Hoochie Coochie Man’

Svarp The Harp is rather adamant about his admiration for Blues. In fact, he “loves to play the Blues”, a statement he backs up with a wholesome, hard-hitting version of genre classic ‘Hoochie Coochie Man’. Famously interpreted by the likes of Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, and B.B. King, among others, the composition is now given a striking German flair, with Svarp The Harp lending his gritty, dynamic vocals and his harp/harmonica skills to the cause.

A frequent entry in Svarp The Harp’s live shows, the song found its way to a record back in 2023, with the German hero finding it quite special and endearing. Teaming up with Antonio Passacantili at Wolvesinsound Studio, the Fürstenwalde/Spree-based musician was able to record a track that feels wholesome and electrifying. Although it’s a studio recording, it still carries all the dynamic qualities of a live version.

Delving deeper into ‘Hoochie Coochie Man’, Svarp The Harp explains: “It is a really clean, slow and quiet version of the Blues classic. Perfect for listening when you sit in your armchair with headphones, for example, and your thoughts float. The surprise will be in the detail for the attentive listener in music and lyrics, too.”
