There’s a group worth your attention emerging from the West Midlands. Out of Lincoln, specifically, Stone Cold Sweethearts have recently shared their latest single ‘Upside Down’, following up on previous cut ‘County Lines’. Originally written for a local BBC Introducing festival set, the track has now bloomed into an electrifying, powerful jewel.
We are rather impressed by ‘Upside Down’. The band’s sonic alchemy is working incredibly well, resulting in this solid, malleable sound that doesn’t feel forced or amateurish. Frankly, Stone Cold Sweethearts sounds like a mature, expert outfit, a project that would be much further along their current career trajectory. Based on that, there’s a good chance they might grow into national darlings, deservingly so.
Delving deeper into the creative ethos that governs their music, Stone Cold Sweethearts explain: “There isn’t really any main influence for us as we all have different music tastes. We think our music is really unique, with the double vocals offering different moods and vibes… We’re always having fun in the studio. It all comes from the heart and for the love of music”. We appreciate the unpretentious character the group seems to enjoy. But we do suspect they are also being modest: ‘Upside Down’ clearly showcases a well-functioning, exciting project. Looking forward to hearing more!
