We approach Stereo Silence with great curiosity, asking ourselves if this is Britain’s new wonder band. After hearing their debut effort, ‘The Strange’, our position is that they might as well be. You see, the Camberley-based group sounds fantastic from the get-go, unveiling high production value and electrifying songwriting. In fact, the talented humans behind Stereo Silence all come from previous musical projects, a feature that goes a long way in sparing the group the ‘apprenticeship’ phase.
Instead, Stereo Silence hit the ground running with ‘The Strange’, a roaring, towering single built on unmistakable Britpop influences and indie flair. In fact, there’s a touch of everything in it, with the UK-based creatives going out of their way to distil the last 30 years of guitar euphoria, only to then build an aural formula that is certainly familiar, but never obvious. Out now via Regent Street Records, ‘The Strange’ is likely the prologue of a long, successful career.
Delving deeper into the song, Stereo Silence explain: “It speaks to admiration and connection. It came together quickly: once we played it, the lyrics just fell into place.” Overall, this is a fantastic debut by the British outfit, and we are confident we’ll be hearing from them very soon – perhaps on a small UK tour?
