A roaring, evocative and anthemic cut, ‘Gimme More’ marks the latest effort by Surrey-based indie-rock outfit Stereo Silence. Out now via Regent Street Records, the single also celebrates a recent debut headline show at Woking’s Fiery Bird, showcasing the group’s heightened momentum and cultural relevance. Their sound has nothing to envy from more blasoned projects, boasting a great deal of electrifying, chaotic guitars and striking drum grooves.
Relatable vocals and catchy melodies supercharge Stereo Silence with an arena-ready flair, transforming their rock-powered ethos into a more mainstream product. ‘Gimme More’ is the strongest evidence of that. Boasting a relentless, euphoric character, the record maintains the tension high at all times, with gritty and magnetic guitar motifs keeping listeners on their toes. Clocking up at four glorious minutes, the piece manages to remain friendly and familiar without sounding too obvious or clichés.
Moreover, ‘Gimme More’ shares a very interesting origin story, with the first demo being written years ago by frontman Sam, at the venerable age of seventeen. Going through a series of diverse iterations, the song has now found its final form. Delving deeper into its lyricism, Stereo Silence explain: “a song about desire, restlessness, and the eternal search for ‘the greener side’.”
