The keen reader might remember Solar Flare Alert thanks to their stunning debut effort, ‘Let the Music Turn You On’, released last year in collaboration with italo Disco legend Maurice McGee. Since then, the Italian duo has been hard at work, writing and recording an original catalogue of material with a distinct eclectic character. ‘The Way You Move’ is the perfect evidence of that. Diving into disco and funk territories, the record takes a bilingual journey that feels rather timeless. It does incorporate a great deal of retro allure, but also pop-leaning sections with contemporary flair.
Oscillating between English and Italian, talented creatives Davide Ungaro and Erika Neri unveil an aural trip that’s incredibly rewarding and hypnotic, a carefree, uplifting moment of sonic euphoria that still maintains lusciousness and elegance. The balance between Neri’s charming female vocals and Davide’s deeper, more evocative tone gives the song a keen duality, a nuanced contrast between darkness and light, if you will. ‘The Way You Move’ is out now via Katekatashe Records.
Delving deeper into their upcoming album and the meaningful ethos that propels the project, Solar Flare Alert explain: “The upcoming LP will be accompanied by an original comic book, with the artwork for ‘The Way You Move’ introducing illustrated, space-inflected versions of Davide and Erika. The project’s name itself, Solar Flare Alert, represents a positive alarm, a burst of energy that evolved naturally into a story worth telling through multiple creative channels.”
