She Becomes Embrace The Grunge Revival in Striking Cut ‘Necromancer’

‘90s children rejoice! There’s a new like-minded project in town, and it’s never sounded so good. Celebrating the release of their latest effort, ‘Necromancer’, English alt-rock and grunge outfit She Becomes appears to have finally found a sound that they resonate with, a concoction of nostalgic grunge distortions steeped in melancholic songwriting and veiled mysticism. Think PJ Harvey and The Smashing Pumpkins. Spearheaded by head honcho and main songwriter Sherri Bell, ‘Necromancer’ is a rather striking offering.

You see, not only does the record place itself in the midst of a global grunge resurgence, but it also comes with a casual, carefree delivery, adding tons of retro allure to an already powerful track. Bell does a great job on it, masterfully balancing gritty guitars and relatable songwriting. In fact, it’s a rather friendly piece, evocative and sombre, yet poised and energetic. The production has been curated by Matt Kassell, helping She Becomes reach a successful aural imprint.

Delving deeper into ‘Necromancer’, Sherri explains: “This song, although officially my second single, is my first single with my sound established. I only started writing music 18 months ago and had never even been in a band before that. Late bloomer, but it is my favourite thing in the world, and I am so super proud of this song. This song is dark & grungey yet a declaration of love, becoming alive due to someone else.”
