Shaela Miller’s Latest Album ‘After The Masquerade’ is a Multifaceted Masterpiece

It wasn’t long ago that Shaela Miller stole our collective hearts here at Mesmerized with the release of her single ‘After The Masquerade’. Labelling the Canadian songstress’ tune as “an eclectic, soothing and sumptuous gem bathing in Kate Bush-esque vocal tone and delicate slide guitars,” we’ve been patiently waiting to hear what she would get up to next. Well, just a few days ago, she answered our calls.

Offering up an eleven-track album named after the aforementioned single, Shaela has gifted the world a beautifully wide-ranging and diverse sonic offering. From the nostalgia-laced opener ‘Start A Fire’ to the more dark and almost gothic ‘Of Roses’, Miller proves that her artistry simply knows no bounds.

“‘After The Masquerade’ is a trip back to where it all started for me, except this time, with years of experience and wisdom,” she says. “It’s an homage to the music that inspired my youth, and continues to inspire me today”.

For fans of artists like Weyes Blood, Sharon Van Etten, and Angel Olsen, Shaela Miller’s latest record is an absolute masterpiece from start to finish. Other songs that resonated personally were ‘In My Dreams’, ‘Waterline’, and ‘Mourning Tonight’, but truthfully, the entire album is an absolute jewel!
