Seán Griffin Delivers Alluring Video for Latest Single ‘Rocks Off’

The keen reader might remember Seán Griffin’s ‘Rocks Off’ from a feature we published back in September. Writing about the rowdy, potent Britpop-influenced piece, we proudly declared it as “pure, unfiltered rock’n’roll being mangled at the service of Seán’s playful, yet urgent lyricism”. We stand by our words: Griffin holds a striking, earthy and raw character on its belt. This unapologetic and timeless allure probably arises from his past in Celtic punk rock band The Ruffians.

Emboldened by his Irish roots, Seán likes to blend traditions and genres, often looking overseas to the UK and Ireland for inspiration. Normally based in New York City, the American singer and songwriter has been developing a strong solo project, with ‘Rocks Off’ being the sharpest evidence of it. It’s a track that doesn’t leave anything to the imagination, simply embracing fuzzy guitars and rolling drums with playful euphoria. It’s carefree and fun, just as we would expect from Griffin.

Recently, Seán’s ‘Rocks Off’ has been given a playful and sultry music video, hard-hitting visuals that well depict the energetic and gritty nature of the record. Packed with retro-infused visuals, the work feels like a feverish daydream, one where cinematic elements and joyful storylines offer a slice of well-deserved escapism.
