Sasha Joy Celebrates The Good Times with ‘Summer’s Come’

The keen reader will certainly recall British songstress Sasha Joy. Writing about ‘New Land’ not long ago, we proudly celebrated the project as holding “limitless soulful magic and hypnotising character”, a statement that we stand by, especially after having discovered Joy’s latest effort, ‘Summer’s Come’. Another episode from Sasha’s collaboration with producer Sanga Toto, the single feels once again quite hazy and laidback, aiding an uplifting and relaxing listening experience.

Aptly titled, ‘Summer’s Come’ seeks to evoke an often fleeting feeling; the rare sensation of everything being well and in harmony. Summer is the perfect time for such an electrifying moment, with its heartwarming, sun-filled days and the heightened number of social interactions. Yet, Sasha Joy’s lyricism is not the only standout feature in the piece. Its eclectic production, influenced by funk, R&B and pop, and dub-like cuts, manages to wrap listeners into a bubbly, feel-good, and nostalgic nugget of aural euphoria.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, Joy explains: “This song came from one of those golden moments when everything felt vivid, like life had more light in it. I wanted to capture that feeling in a way that felt fresh and alive.” As always, Sasha’s malleable and luscious vocals do the heavy lifting, showcasing a precise and soulful tone that never disappoints.
