SARIKA Ventures Into Country-Folk Territory on ‘Nightrunner’

Ever since the release of her debut EP ‘Right Place, Wrong Time’ last year, Boston-based folk-pop singer/songwriter SARIKA has been making a real name for herself in the industry. A self-proclaimed “nerdy-girl-turned-pop star”, SARIKA’s first release of 2024 sees her venture into country-folk territory, a very different avenue when compared to her previous single ‘California King’.

Upbeat synths are replaced with a melancholic acoustic guitar, and the artist lets her unfiltered vocals shine through brightly. A gentle piano also accompanies her on the journey, all culminating in a beautiful tune that serves as a heartfelt exploration of being unable to leave a relationship that you know you should.

Approaching the subject in a lighthearted and self-aware manner offsets any lingering wistful nostalgia, and infuses the song with a sense of bittersweet introspection that I just love!

Inspired by the likes of Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and Phoebe Bridgers, SARIKA is an artist on a clear mission. And, with over 120,000 plays on Spotify in less than a year, it’s obvious that her music is capturing hearts and minds worldwide. We can’t wait to hear more!
