San Reetam Deliver Upbeat yet Introspective Masterpiece ‘Carry Me’

Colourful, full of life, and seriously groovy, ‘Carry Me’ is the first new song of 2024 courtesy of San Reetam, a Bristol-based production collective featuring composer and producer MDB, pianist and songwriter Joe Pike, and saxophonist and vocalist Eve Lesedi. Juxtaposing one of the happiest and most upbeat soundscapes I’ve heard with introspective, almost tense lyrics, ‘Carry Me’ is a tune about the negative effects of social media and the importance of having genuine and close friends.

Paying homage to the production methods of legends like Quincy Jones and Pharrell Williams, ‘Carry Me’ incorporates vintage sounds and tight samples. There are also nods to the likes of Stevie Wonder and Prince scattered throughout the track, all culminating in a deeply soulful and warm experience that is simply inescapable.

Currently hard at work on five new songs that are scheduled to be released later this year, San Reetam is one of the most impressive outfits I’ve come across in some time. From neo-soul to R&B and even full-blown orchestral ballads, there’s nothing that the collective shy away from, and for this, they are a firm favourite over at Mesmerized!

Serious tune alert! Enjoy ‘Carry Me’ on Spotify now:
