It’s been almost two years since we last wrote about Sambox and Anita Barbereau. That tells us two things: first, where does the time go?! Second: their collaboration has not run out of creative juices just yet. Since our article about the pair in November 2023, a lot has happened, with Sambox and Barbereau unveiling their original album ‘Intimity’ just a few months ago. From a sonic standpoint, theirs is a match made in heaven.
French producer Sambox holds a keen affinity for anything atmospheric and emotive, building aural soundscapes and hypnotic beats with great cinematic flair. Anita Barbereau is a truly talented cellist, enriching Sambox’s production with tons of orchestral elegance. ‘Don’t Ever Stop’ is their latest effort, a piece that doubles down on their foundational qualities while delving deeper into melancholia and lyrical poignancy.
Taking us into the duo’s creative process, Sambox explains: “We always start the same way: I compose the melodic structure and send the project to Anita so she can draw inspiration from it to compose her part, which she records at home. She sends me her recorded track and I integrate it into the project for mixing/mastering.” Showcasing their industry prowess, Sambox and Barbereau also recently won the ‘Intercontinental Music Awards’ in Los Angeles for ‘Imagination’ and ‘Wabi Sabi’.
