Sam Lewis Sings About Migration in Stunning Song ‘Juan Garcia’

A meaningful, hard-hitting song, ‘Juan Garcia’ stands as a heartfelt tale of hardships and resilience, all revolving around the experience of migration and survival. An honest, first-hand tale on the hurdles of reaching the United States’ southern border, the record comes courtesy of celebrated singer-songwriter Sam Lewis, lending his warm, charming vocals to the cause. The result is an acoustic jewel steeped in Americana and Folk goodness, with Lewis’ vocals gently lulling listeners into an aural masterpiece.

Originally written by John Mann, an English as a Second Language teacher, ‘Juan Garcia’ was inspired by one of his students’ intricate journey to the US. That experience particularly resonated with Mann and Lewis, resulting in Sam deciding to release it to the wider world. We are glad he did that, especially in our chaotic, challenging times. We feel as though the message in ‘Juan Garcia’ is ever needed; after all, we all could do with a tad more kindness and understanding.

Speaking about the song, Lewis explains: “It highlights many of the hurdles many migrants face when trying to get to the southern border of America. One particular student’s telling inspired John Mann to write this song, and in recent weeks, I felt compelled to record and share with the world.”
