Gentle and heartwarming, yet offering a hint of nostalgia: ‘Autumn Rain’ is all of that and more. Penned by Philadelphia-born creative Saline Eyes, the piece provides another valuable insight into the project’s upcoming EP, unveiling an aural universe that’s rather cathartic and partly eclectic. You see, steeped in friendly indie-rock energy, the track also benefits from a certain folk and country allure, a formula that feels expansive and bright, allowing Saline Eyes’ charming vocals to fully rise to the top.
Capturing the listener’s attention almost instantly, the American singer-songwriter crafts a highly enticing and evocative single, a slice of orchestral-flavoured, elegant goodness in an otherwise gloomy reality. Known by day as James Hackett, Saline Eyes particularly shines through his lyricism, vivid storytelling inspired by wondrous moments of creative glory and past experiences. This reveals Hackett’s highly observant character, as he discovers the world with child-like curiosity and a highly emotional outlook.
Delving deeper into ‘Autumn Rain’, James explains: “The lyrics came while lying in bed. I was lying underneath a skylight, and it was one of those dreary autumn days and most of the skylight was covered in wet, fallen leaves. Rain was gently tapping on the window. The lyrics for the chorus just kind of came, and I got up and grabbed my acoustic and that’s that.”
