Marking Rowan Murphy’s debut on the international folk scene, ‘Heal in Hell’ is a stunning, gentle and heartwarming display of what the Irish songstress is capable of. Balanced between homegrown folk influences and more global Americana flavourings, ‘Heal in Hell’ moves rather slowly, yet with charisma and character. Murphy’s vocals are immensely hypnotising and elegant, taking listeners on an unforgettable journey through human nature and the dynamics of romantic relationships.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Rowan explains: “‘Heal in hell’ was written from the perspective of someone in a domestic relationship. I wrote the song very late one night when I was 16, after seeing someone speak about their relationship online. I remember thinking how strange it is that we can become so dismissive of extreme faults in a person when we’re so enamoured by them, and further, how we can be forced into situations that we’re left dealing with alone despite it consuming so much of our lives.”
For anyone keen, Murphy’s second single is also out now, a more intimate and expressive offering which confirms our hopes about the project: Rowan Murphy is going places soon.
