Rowan Flack Shares Comeback Single ‘Make Me Whole’, Ahead of Forthcoming EP

Marking Rowan Flack’s return onto the international jazz scene, ‘Make Me Whole’ unfolds a hypnotic, tender listening experience steeped in expansive storytelling and nostalgic imagery.

Following up on 2024’s ‘Forest Fires’, singer, writer, and presenter Rowan Flack returns today with the first chapter of a forthcoming EP. Drenched in ballad-driven jazz allure, ‘Make Me Whole’ is exactly what we would expect from somebody with Flack’s longstanding expertise and musical talent. It’s a hypnotic, tender composition steeped in expansive storytelling and nostalgic imagery. It all hinges on Rowan’s stunningly luscious vocals and gentle arrangements, never quite descending into brooding technical territories or darker jazz shores.

Instead, we get to experience Flack’s lyrical imagery first-hand, with the London-based creative guiding the listening experience with charisma and poised confidence. ‘Make Me Whole’ is taken from ‘Nap on the Sofa’ EP, set to be released later this year via Pretty Decent Music. Alongside Flack, the record’s lineup includes Rob Dimbleby (piano), Jack Lecomber (double bass), Andrew McCoubrey (drums) and Celeste Cantor-Stephens (trumpet), with acclaimed engineer Brett Shaw at the helm. An EP launch gig is scheduled for February 27th at The Crypt, in London.

Delving deeper into ‘Make Me Whole’, Rowan explains: “‘Make Me Whole’ was written in a Bergen fjord-side café, overlooking the ocean, while performing abroad in Norway. I wanted to capture the vastness of the ocean and the longing I felt through sound. The musicians capture this; with flowing piano lines, melancholy trumpet improvisations, and experimental, folk and jazz drumming, it unveils the track in its live context.”
