Rosetta West Return with Highlights Album ‘Gravity Sessions’

If you are looking for a gritty underground band, you might have just found it. A slice of unfiltered rock and blues euphoria, Rosetta West embody the spirit of an old-school outfit, penning music that’s approachable, fierce and lo-fi, yet also rather wholesome and hypnotising. ‘Gravity Sessions’ is the perfect evidence of that. Visiting Chicago’s revered Gravity Studios for a few days, Rosetta West locked in and recorded their most requested tracks, effectively crafting a hits collection, an all-time favourites list that will greatly please the group’s longstanding fanbase.

Active since the 1990s, the Chicagoan group is a refreshing discovery; in a world of polite, educated and bombastic acts, Rosetta West stand out as a carefree, down-to-earth creative creature, unapologetically pursuing music they love without too much attention to the commercial side of it. That’s also what makes ‘Gravity Sessions’ so authentic, showcasing all of the guitar-powered goodness and relentless fuzziness the project has to offer. Oscillating between all-out, fast-paced bits and more reflective, poised episodes, the album provides a rewarding, nostalgic listening experience.

Performing in ‘Gravity Sessions’, we find founder and songwriter Joseph Demagore on vocals and guitars, Herf Guderian on bass, and Rosetta West veteran Mike Weaver on drums. Doug McBride is on mixing and recording duties. Delving deeper into the album, the band explains: “It’s raw, live (save a couple of overdubs) and powerful. It offers a vastly different perspective on some familiar songs”.
