It happened: Rival Consoles‘ long-awaited ninth album ‘Landscape From Memory’ is finally out. Packing fourteen boundary-pushing episodes, the record shines a light on the British producer’s bold and meaningful approach to electronic music, an approach that on this occasion seems to favour minimalistic synth tones, haunting atmospheres, and noisy textures. In particular, ‘Soft Gradient Beckons’ grabs our attention, thanks to a video made in collaboration with filmmaker and visual artist Anthony Dickenson, who spent the last 12 months working and developing the project.
Speaking about his visual work, Dickenson explains: “Every frame in this film for ‘Soft Gradient Beckons’ was painted by hand—a slow, tactile process that unfolded over several months. What began as a simple experiment gradually became a response to the shifting rhythms of my own life. Each image became a fragment of memory, layered and stitched together to explore rhythm, decay, and time. The result is a piece that moves with the emotional undercurrent of the track, quietly pulsing, always evolving.”
