Renee Stormz Returns with Eclectic RnB Gem ‘All the Smoke’

Part of the new wave of British talents flooding the music industry, Renee Stormz arrives on our discovery radar with fierceness and authenticity, offering relatable lyricism encased in contemporary and forward-thinking records. ‘All the Smoke’ is Stormz’s latest effort, a single signalling Renee’s return to the scene after a short hiatus.

The sonic imprint is as luscious and groovy as it gets: blending modern electronica tones and eclectic RnB elements, Stormz builds the perfect framework for her charming and evocative vocals, balanced between grittiness and melodic drive. The result is impressive and wonderful, showcasing the rich and nuanced artistry of the Manchester-based talent. Moreover, the soulful/jazzy inserts in the production – such as a saxophone and acoustic piano – perfectly complement the leftfield-style beats underlying the track, courtesy of Nottingham producer Superbeats.

Lyrically, the track mirrors the reflective and introspective nature of Renee Stormz’s personal aesthetic, exploring feminine energy while recounting her experience as a black woman growing up in the West; This creates a delightful contrast with the seemingly easy nature of the instrumental, making for a rather interesting music journey.

Describing the inspiration behind the writing process, Stormz explains: “The Queen, The Huntress, The mystic and The sage are four of the 7 feminine archetypes explored in the book “Goddesses in Every Woman”. These four archetypes I found deeply ingrained within myself and I wanted to create a song that explored my journey and fundamental parts of my character that gives me that grit to overcome and succeed. I was at a point in my life where my character was being tested. Will I take all the smoke, all the judgement and let it defeat me, or would I stand in my pride, in my power and remember where I come from and why I do what I do. This song is the latter.”
