ReeToxA Shares Comprehensive Rock Album ‘Soliloquy’

Writing ‘Soliloquy’ almost caused ReeToxA to go mad. The end result was well worth it, a monumental rock album with a great deal of epic melodies in it.

If you are looking for a massive, eclectic rock album, you just found it! ‘Soliloquy’ is exactly that, an old-school record focused on epic guitar solos, anthemic storytelling and fuzzy energy. Packed with a whopping 26 tracks, the LP emerges from the fertile musical mind of Australian musician and songwriter Jason McKee. Hailing from Melbourne, the talented creative has spent a considerable number of years working on the project, perhaps also the reason for such a long tracklist.

Written during the Covid pandemic, at a time when ReeToxA was supposed to be recording their first record, ‘Soliloquy’ proved to be quite a maddening experience for McKee, who ultimately ended up in hospital for six weeks. We appreciate Jason’s work ethic, although we’d urge him not to do it again next time. Yet, the end goal was worth it: ‘Soliloquy’ is now out in the world, with production help from Simon Moro and even orchestral overdubs by the European Budapest Orchestra.

Overall, ‘Soliloquy’ is a rather compelling record, the sort of comprehensive, long conceptual project that used to be quite frequent during the rock-n-roll golden era. Some might say that the album won’t fit the average attention span of the modern-day world. Yet, there’s always a chance it will connect with someone like-minded. As we are told: “‘Soliloquy’ is a step back to the days where you sit down and listen to the whole album, participating in a journey that will challenge every memory and emotion you have.”
