RedLight Share Latest Effort ‘Ten Circles’

It’s great to meet a group that makes music for the right reasons, favouring personal expression instead of commercial allure. We suspect that’s also the reason they managed to stay together for so long.

‘Ten Circles’ marks our point of entry into RedLight‘s longstanding history. The French group, calling Marseille their home, has been together for twenty years, and they don’t seem willing to slow down anytime soon. ‘Ten Circles’ follows up on last year’s album ‘Homeworks’, and features a highly DIY creative process, with the track being captured at MySmall Studio, the band’s home studio.

From a sonic standpoint, ‘Ten Circles’ feels part playful and part fuzzy, drawing from indie rock stalwarts such as Pixies as well as heavier outfits like Pearl Jam. The new single is never overly saturated or distorted, instead favouring a middle ground that will likely appeal to a wider audience. There’s a bit of Modern Mouse in it, too, especially when it comes to the rhythmic guitar creating such a powerful and characteristic hook.

RedLight are adamant about letting us know that their artistic endeavour is solely based on a fierce DIY ethos: “DIY all the way!” They are obviously highly passionate about what they are doing, and the results speak for themselves.
