Re Teu Readies for Introspective and Brooding EP with ‘St. Brendan’

An immersive piece steeped in heartwarming alt-folk and evocative lyricism, ‘St. Brendan’ opens the floodgates to Re Teu’s upcoming EP, ‘Voyages’.

2026 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for London-based troubadour Re Teu. Back in March, he returned after a long hiatus with a brand new offering, ‘Like a War’, an immersive and brooding piece steeped in heartwarming alt-folk and evocative lyricism. ‘St. Brendan’ picks up exactly from where the previous release left off, opening the floodgates to Re Teu’s upcoming EP, ‘Voyages’. The current creative cycle was conceived and written on laidback surf trips in Cornwall and long hikes up Ben Nevis…

…It makes perfect sense, as ‘St. Brendan’ is the sort of introspective goodness that requires space and time; it requires a certain self-discovery, if you will. A record like this doesn’t get written in a songwriting session; it needs a cohesive, cathartic process to be fully moulded into the purposeful and cinematic jewel it is today. Re Teu’s deep, dark vocals are the cherry on the cake.

Delving deeper into the meaningful ethos that propels the single, Re Teu explains: “I wrote this song in 2017 about leaving someone you love because of time and place. It was then brought back to life in 2024 after feeling comfortable enough to share the story. A story of letting go of something you want for the good of all involved, ‘St.Brendan’ is titled after the saint of the seas to watch over people making a voyage across unsure waters, trusting the tide to take them through.” ‘Voyages’ EP is in the works, and if anyone is in London, a headline show is planned for September 13th, at The Lexington.
