Real ones will be aware of how appreciative we are towards Queen Anne. The Los Angeles-based indie pop outfit has caught our attention multiple times, mainly thanks to their unique brand of sharp, evocative pop, often drenched in alternative allure and theatrical euphoria. Songs such as ‘Lexi Love Me’ are still a standout, as far as we are concerned. That said, Queen Anne have not been resting on their laurels, as ‘Greyhound’ certainly showcases.
Marking the duo’s latest effort, ‘Greyhound’ sees singer and songwriter Katie Silverman and producer Sandy Chila at their best, here engaging in an intense, hypnotic indie cut that’s a joy to listen to. Built on electrifying, warm guitars and a fast-paced, rolling drum groove, the track is one of Queen Anne’s fiercest releases to date. Silverman’s vocals are always up to the task, on this occasion exhibiting a certain Americana allure.
Delving deeper into the lyricism that propels the piece, Katie explains: “‘greyhound’ is easily the most vulnerable song i’ve put out. it’s about looking around at a party for someone who’s forgotten you’re there; it’s about being in love with someone you don’t respect; it’s about a dog that can sprint 45 miles an hour. i mean, think about that. they’re so calm and affectionate, and then, just, off they go. and their heads are so skinny. man i’d love to adopt a greyhound…!”
