Prem Byrne Unveils Gentle, Hopeful Cut ‘Orion’

With ‘Orion’, Prem Byrne gifts listeners a little optimism, a little positivity: all qualities we could use right now. Another folk-pop masterpiece from the Californian troubadour.

We have previously spent some good words for Californian troubadour Prem Byrne, and for good reason. We proudly celebrated his music as “aural tenderness: certainly vibrant and cathartic, but also quite introspective and sensitive”, a statement we stand behind, and one which could be very well adapted to Byrne’s latest effort, ‘Orion’. Released just over a couple of weeks ago, the single embraces a particularly lovable and gentle allure, one that navigates pop and folk with eclectic flair.

Prem’s luscious and evocative vocals are quite impressive on ‘Orion’. They hold a feathery quality, so to speak, developing with a certain mysticism and the sweetest melodies one can imagine. Byrne is here responsible for guitar, vocals and bansuri, once again showcasing his wide pool of influences and multi-talented artistry.

Delving deeper into the lyrical ethos that propels the song, Byrne explains: “The words of this song have drifted into my mind over the months, reminding me that at the deepest level, all is well… Here’s hoping the message finds its way to the people who most need to hear it.” We suspect it will indeed find its way to the one who most needs it; in fact, it finds its way to us, which we are grateful for. This is Prem Byrne at its best and most inspired.
