If you are in the mood for roaring, uplifting country rock, then you might hold some interest in Pistol Whip The Devil’s latest banger, ‘The Devil In Me’. It’s a relatively easygoing, rollicking effort, a slice of joyous and zesty energy in an otherwise gloomy world. Hailing from Vancouver, the Canadian band teamed up with producer Winston Hauschild at The Treehouse Studio, packing the single with a wholesome blend of fuzzy guitars, pop-leaning vocal hooks and charming drum grooves.
In fact, while this can be defined as country rock, there’s a great deal of mainstream melodies and songwriting in it, making the record suitable for a wide audience. Very relatable and drenched in playful romance, ‘The Devil In Me’ is the perfect summer anthem, a delicious cut that will instantly brighten anyone’s day. Imagine driving on a long highway with carefree happiness and the windows down, perhaps on some of those massive American trucks… Yeah, that’s the kind of imagery that we associate with the record, in a positive way.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘The Devil In Me’, frontman Shane Jolie explains: “This song is about one of those nights where you are out meeting new people, sharing new experiences, doing things you never thought you would do, embracing life and the moment, not caring about consequences not doubting your next move. It could end good or could end terrible. Who knows? Anything goes!”
