Paul Claxton Shares Nostalgic Single ‘Left Haunting You’

It’s not our first rodeo with British songwriter and creative Paul Claxton. Yet, it’s been a long time since we wrote about him, since September 2024. At the time, we proudly celebrated ‘Viola’ as “crowned by Paul’s luscious and peculiar vocal tone”. Recently, Claxton has returned with his latest effort, the rock-oriented, nostalgic cut ‘Left Haunting You’. Packed with meaningful lyricism and relatable imagery, the single showcases Paul’s incredible musicianship.

Exploring Claxton’s biography is like uncovering a treasure trove of historical venues and artists. Active for decades as a solo artist and in successful bands, the talented Liverpool-born creative has supported a never-ending list of seminal figures, from Robert Plant to Ultravox, passing through Sir Bob Geldof and Kiki Dee, in venues such as The Apollo, in Hammersmith, and The Lowry in Salford. ‘Left Haunting You’ traces a vibrant trail of influences across many decades. Steeped in rock’n’roll and pop charisma, the record also feels quite 70s-oriented, with a stunning Hammond organ enriching the sonic picture.

Paul Claxton’s vocals are measured and elegant as always, sharing a heightened sense of relatability and melodic catharsis. Distorted guitars perfectly co-exist with the London-based troubadour, making for a single that will appeal to both rock heads and pop lovers. Bonus points if you are nostalgic!
