It’s been a while since we wrote about Miami-based artist and songwriter Patrick Doval. Since April ’24, to be precise, when we featured ‘Endless Heartbreak’. Since then, the American creative has kept rather quiet, seemingly taking a little break from the music industry. Well, the hiatus is now over: just a few days ago Doval unveiled ‘Rocket to The Moon’, the project’s comeback single.
In true Patrick Doval fashion, ‘Rocket to The Moon’ is pure rock’n’roll, thins time delivered with a certain punk-rock allure. Drummer Pete Parada (formerly of The Offspring) returns on his rightful throne, helping Doval craft an electrifying and kinetic gem, a piece that’s not too heavy in terms of distortion, but big on fierceness and melodic euphoria. Patrick’s vocals are exceptionally malleable, even reminding us of some of 70s’ biggest rock vocalist. Overall, the epic vibe behind the track well fits it wider lyricism.
The cinematic storyline that propels the song and video revolves around a fictional scenario in which Doval builds a rocket and travels to the moon. There, he discovers a mysterious robot, falls in love with it, and seeks to bring her back to earth. Will she make it? Delving deeper into the record, Patrick explains: “A surreal sci-fi love story about searching for the impossible, finding love in the most unexpected place, and taking a chance on something beyond your imagination.”
