Patrick Doval Returns with a Post-Punk Paragon on ‘Endless Heartbreak’

Just a few months ago, we at Mesmerized fell in love with a tune called ‘Back Home’. Courtesy of Miami-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Patrick Doval, we quickly labelled the track “a slice of new-wave nostalgia blended with modern rock-pop sentiment”. Eagerly awaiting his return, Patrick has now gifted the world another gritty new song, albeit one that was actually penned way back in 2008.

Originally released using a drum machine, ‘Endless Heartbreak’ now features the drumming of Pete Parada (The Offspring), an upgrade so epic that it’s like going from a microwave meal to a gourmet feast. Heavily inspired by The Cure and Iggy Pop at the time, ‘Endless Heartbreak’ is a post-punk paragon that has unquestionably stood the test of time. Raw, intense, and emotionally charged, it’s a tune that expertly captures the essence of the post-punk era with its unbridled passion.

“‘Endless Heartbreak’ is a song about falling in love or having a crush on someone and getting broken-hearted,” says Doval. “The person who you fall hard for ignores you and tries to avoid you”. A sadly all too familiar tale, it’s a track that brings with it a universal and timeless message, and it’s one that we simply cannot stop listening to!
