Parallama Returns with Quirky Single ‘Castor’

A project like no other, Parallama’s music is truly hypnotising and eclectic. Walking the wide and varied path of pop-rock and gentle psychedelia, the American project has recently unveiled their latest effort, ‘Castor’, a charming and witty offering that also serves as the title track for an upcoming album. In it, we are able to observe everything that makes Parallama great. From roaring, fuzzy guitars to 80s flavoured groovy basslines, passing through an intelligent use of synth-powered atmospheres and sound design.

Decadent, gloomy vocals are the perfect match for such a vivid aural formula. Mike Strickland is the talented multi-instrumentalist behind the project, together with an ever-expanding lineup of like-minded friends and creatives. Compared with Strickland’s debut album, ‘Resolution’, ‘Castor’ feels more detailed and mature, perhaps a result of a more collaborative writing ethos.

Speaking about the single, Parallama explains: “When the first sketch was done, I knew I was onto something good. I shared it with my musician friends, who helped refine the song by adding guitar textures and a super-funky bass line. In the end, we crafted something that could have appeared on the soundtrack of an early Tarantino movie.Look out for more music to be released soon.
