No Spinoza Announces New Consequential Album ‘Jupiter’s Great Hurricane’

Nothing about No Spinoza is average; rather, the contrary. Everything is peculiar, a prophetic concoction of artsy prog-rock and layered, abstract storytelling.

Marking No Spinoza’s first release since 2022, ‘Airport’ is the track that introduces us to the project’s expansive, highly meaningful and thematic artistic universe. You see, nothing about the York-based musician and lyricist is average; rather, the contrary: everything is peculiar, a prophetic, cathartic concoction of artsy prog-rock goodness and deep foundational storytelling. Not just a musical endeavour, No Spinoza is also a visual one, and perhaps a philosophical and a literary one, too. Its holistic potential will all be revealed slowly during the course of the year, eventually leading to ‘Jupiter’s Great Hurricane’.

‘Jupiter’s Great Hurricane’ can be considered No Spinoza’s magnus opus, at least so far, a comprehensive, thematic album that’s supported by visuals (or ‘films’, as the British artist refers them) for each track and even a long book of essays, all part of an overarching storyline that draws major influences from the Desert Fathers (early Christians hermits), Renaissance allegorical paintings, and the crucial developments of the year 1991. “A meditation on temptation and loss”, as No Spinoza eloquently defines it, one stepped in nuanced historical allure.

‘Airport’ is merely the first piece of the puzzle. Yet, it’s rather easy to comprehend how deeply layered and meaningful the album will be, striking evidence of No Spinoza’s far-reaching intellect. No wonder it took him four years to write it all! That said, we would urge the listener not to feel intimidated by such a consequential record; one does not need to buy into the whole artistic ecosystem right away (music, films, essays). Instead, it might be beneficial to slowly approach the project with curious eyes and ears, letting No Spinoza’s fervent artistry gradually transform from vivid rock matter to deeper abstraction.
