Night Wolf and Lois Powell Return with ‘The Laws of Life’

Night Wolf and Lois Powell are back with another cinematic jewel: ‘The Laws of Life’ is hypnotic, obscure and packed with escapism. Just what we were looking for!

The keen reader might remember a recent interview that we did with British pair Night Wolf and Lois Powell, celebrating ‘Unstoppable’ as having a “highly hypnotic character and extensive cinematic allure”. We stand by our words; in fact, the cinematic factor is deeply central to the project’s development, with producer Night Wolf boasting a successful career scoring moving images and providing like-minded creative services. The artistic collaboration with charming vocalist Los Powell is a timely one: seeking to establish himself as a pillar of the soundtrack scene, Night Wolf and Powell have been writing material that’s certainly cathartic and luscious.

‘The Laws of Life’ is part of that effort, marking the duo’s latest release. In it, we are once again faced with a great deal of hazy and melancholic character, especially with Lois showcasing her powerful vocals and her ability to bloom into a thousand harmonies. Night Wolf does a great job on the surrounding production, building a sonic panorama that’s nocturne and crepuscular, certainly mysterious. A simple beat and obscure soundscapes provide the backbone for a piece that’s simple and minimal on the surface, yet very effective and moody.

Overall, the listening experience is powerfully dreamy and packed with escapism; if you do listen to ‘The Laws of Life’, prepare to be absolutely kidnapped by the track’s introspective and sombre flair. Marking Night Wolf and Powell’s fourth collaborative release to date, it’s clear that the two share some serious musical alchemy. We look forward to seeing what’s next.
